Re: email setup not working

For information: Google are in the process of screwing up access to gmail. Unless you can "log in with Google" they'll shortly be stopping access from mailreaders.

Re: Installing Reflector

Re 1: how and why? It would seem to sort out all the problems with a winbox sitting on a private network. The alternative is backup->USB disk followed by scp to the host.

Re: Server - Client

I realise that the Cobian machines will all be Windows! The reason I asked about the server was because you asked about controlling them centrally. I'm working on trying to backup the laptops as part of my main system backups on the Linux machines, hence the query. I'm heading towards running Cobian...

Re: Two unexpected "funnies"

Thanks. Season's Greetings to you and yours.

I didn't log off as Admin, just used "switch user" to overlay a new session. However I know that Windows isn't good at multiple users, I'll retreat back to Linux!

Two unexpected "funnies"

Having run a full backup I cloned the task to create a differential task and an incremental task. The aim being that the system backup can trigger off the laptop's backup at full, differential or incremental according to the established regime. However, the differential seems determined to do a full...

Re: Very slow backup with no change

If it's a VM, then it is possible that the host machine has cached a substantial part of it in memory, so the "seeks" are to memory, not to disk.
