I solved this problem by reinstalling Cobian backup 11 (remove with keep settings, then reinstall). The bottom line for me was that I had cleaned up unwanted startup files with "Norton's Utilities Ultimate" - including "Cobian Backup 11 Volume Shadow Copy Requester".
