Clarification re: Backup Scheduling

Post by mbosse99 »

Hello to the forum from Vienna,

I have a question regarding the scheduling of backups for Cobian Backup 11 (Gravity):

For a computer which is not connected to the internet and used by a very inexperienced old person, I want to set up a set-it-and-forget-it backup scheme. The PC still runs on Win XP and this should stay so.

I am currently having it set up to run differential backups every time the PC is being startet, but after several months the target disk runs full, and to clean it it is a 800km travel for me.

Hence, I'd like to set up the following:
  1. full backup
  2. differential backups, keep 20
  3. every 20th differential backup make full again, keep 3
Does such (or at least a similar scheme) work? How would I set such up? Also, after the second full back has been made, will differential after start from there?

Thanks and kind regards,

Hello!

Yes, that should work. I would aldo uncheck the option Options-Engine-Park first backup in order for this first backup to be automatically deleted.
