I am having trouble with old incremental backups clogging ip my disks, so I created a new backup job using test data and did a BACKUP FULL to start the whole process off.

I've probably got some sort of configuration problem but cant see where that is.

Properties File I ran the task several times and see that the incremental files remain in both Cobian History and the destination top directory, (adding a new file to the source each time).

Any further information on this issue?

I don't see any problem... The program is doing a full backup and then 3 differential, then one more full, etc...The differentials are only deleted together with it corresponding backup.

I think ther is some mis-communication between us.

As you can see on the screen shot I am running an INCREMENTAL backup not DIFFERENTIAL.

On the production site this failure to delete old, FULL, (and subsequent INCREMENTAL), backups resulted in huge amounts of disk space being used by old backups which is what prompted me to raise the issue on INCREMENTAL backups.

I created the TEST backup job with test data in order to test the issue.

I find no mention of a deletion process on the logs on the production site.

Since writing this query I have changed the TEST job to a DIFFERENTIAL backup;

• Make one full every... 2
• Full copies to keep 2
• Differential copies to keep 2

This seems to work correctly; deleting the old FULL backup together with its DIFFERENTIAL 'children'.

When performing INCREMENTAL backups, these 'Deletion' entries were never seen after many runs.

There is no difference between incremental and differential in this case.

The problem is: it's working perfectly in my tests. Running a test backup 100 times: only 5 full backups and its associates incremental are kept.
