Hello, first of all, sorry for the translation, not speaking English, I use Google translator.
I am testing Cobian Backup, the first time I set the copy, with the option "Complete", the second time is configured with the option "Incremental", so that if there is any updated or new file, only copy those files, but does not do that job, it returns to make a copy of all files.
Does anyone know if it is necessary to configure something else so that it only makes a copy of the new that it has modified, or new files?
Thank you
The complete folder is copied again.
Re: The complete folder is copied again.
There is no need to set a complete first task. The incremental one will do a first complete task.

Well I have it in mind, but now that it is as incremental, it continues to copy the entire folder.
If it is true that it had been a while without copying that folder, I don't think that's the problem, because the configuration files that Cobian Backup creates have not changed,

Are you clearing the archive attributes?

Hi,
I have the same problem but with multiple folders.
This problem generates 3 to 5Gb incremental backups every days.
I do clear the archive attributes so, this is not the case.
I would greatly appreciate a solution.

Re: The complete folder is copied again.
Is the source on FTP/SFTP? Are you using compression? Is the backup REALLY full or is it incremental/differential BUT copying everything? (big difference)

Surely many people encounter this error. This forum helps people a lot in answering their questions
It sounds like you are trying to configure Cobian Backup to run an incremental backup but are facing an issue where it continues to copy all files instead of just the new or modified ones. Here are a few things to check:
Verify Backup Type: Ensure that the backup task is correctly set to "Incremental" in the backup settings. You can check this in the "Task properties" under the "General" tab.
Archive Attributes: Cobian Backup uses file attributes (specifically the archive attribute) to track changes in files. Make sure the archive attribute is enabled on the files. You can do this by:
Permissions: Make sure Cobian Backup has permission to modify file attributes. If it's running under a user account without sufficient privileges, it might fail to change these attributes.
If you've already checked these settings and the issue persists, restarting the program or reconfiguring the task from scratch might help. Let me know if you'd like more detailed steps for any of these checks!

If not, it will treat all files as new during the next incremental backup. You can manually clear the archive attribute by right-clicking on the files and using the file properties, but Cobian should do this automatically.
