It won't stop doing full backup after installing windows 10.

I have tested it every which way. Guess upgrading to windows 10 was a bad idea.

I have run out of ideas.

The OS should not be the problem here. The problems is 100%in your configuration. Is it soing FULL backups or INCREMENTAL (cut with all files copied)? Big difference.

An easy-to-follow guide for doing small backups that stresses their efficacy by just copying changed or missing files while controlling the archive property. great advice.GB whatsapp Apk

I have never had an issue with this until I upgraded.

I made a clean install so I assumed it was the configuration also but I screened shot it and can do it again but it refused to not do a full backup.

At 5 tb per drive I don't have the time to let it do this over and over again.

I select folder and properties and files, size and folder are identical yet it continues to overwrite the files.

I am running a drive check to see if I am having an issue with the drives.

Basically this is what it is doing....

File 1 100mb - Local Drive ------------------> File 1 100mb on backup drive.

I set it up to do an incremental backup. No matter the settings it forces a full backup every time.

The backup completes without error and I set it up to back up again and instead of checking if "file 1" is on the back drive it start to overwrite the existing backup on the backup drive.

****

I recently tested with ONE file only to see what would happen.

I erased everything on a test folder and pointed only to that folder. Put "one" file in that folder. It backups THAT file as it should. The backup completes without error. I start again and it overwrites the file as if it is doing a full backup.

I check both drives and files are on both drives. File functions on both drives so its not a corrupted file.

Let me fully check the drives for errors. I have another drive arriving tuesday.

I will report back.

Solved!

Yes, it was set to do incremental backups.

If you asking if it was doing incremental backups over and over. That was what it LOOKED like because it kept overwriting the data already on the drive.

******
The drive was bad. Showed no bad sectors but I changed drives and the backup worked as usual.

Then I formatted the drive in question and tried the backup again and received this error.
Semaphore Timeout Period Expired....
I swapped cables... the same error.

I believe the drive must be corrupt and when Cobian is checking to see if a file is there it doesn't recognize the file or something. Then it tries to overwrite it....over and over...

What is strange is the file is fine on the backup...works as it should.
