"The backup has ended without errors." missing from some logs

Post by aprior »

Firstly, thank you for a great product. I've been a user since Black Moon, now using Reflector 1.0.0
The closing log (before being emailed) is always "The backup has ended without errors." for both my daily Tasks with the exception of the Sunday log (emailed on Monday morning) which rolls straight into the next scheduled task. Example of closing lines below

Usual Log
2022-06-11 20:24:27 Deleting the Volume Shadow Copy image...
2022-06-11 20:24:30 The Volume Shadow Copy image has been successfully deleted.
2022-06-11 20:24:30 Mailing the log files...
2022-06-11 20:24:30 Flushing the log to file. This can take some seconds. Wait...
2022-06-11 20:24:30 The backup has ended without errors.

Sunday Log
2022-06-13 07:12:29 Deleting the Volume Shadow Copy image...
2022-06-13 07:12:54 The Volume Shadow Copy image has been successfully deleted.
2022-06-13 07:12:54 Mailing the log files...
2022-06-13 07:12:54 Flushing the log to file. This can take some seconds. Wait...

2022-06-13 07:12:55 Backing up the task "Off Site"
2022-06-13 07:12:55 Applying the parameters to the task "Off Site" (if any).
2022-06-13 07:12:55 Requesting the creation of a Volume Shadow Copy image for the source...

The only difference is Sunday is an Incremental Transformation into Full backup whereas the rest of the week is just the incremental. The full backup takes much longer... until Monday morning, to complete. I use the "without errors" message to detect a successful backup.

Any ideas why its being omitted and what other criteria for success could I use.

Does the task contain any Post backup event? No idea actually... Will try to reproduce the problem.

No pre nor post backup events ... other than email log of course.
Cobain is installed as a service.
enabled Log settings are:-
- Create a new log file every day
- Display the log in real time
- Mail log files
- Delete if successfully mailed
- When to mail = When a task is done
- Log level = Log normally

Hi Luis,
I think I've solved this (sorry to have wasted your time)
It's caused by concurrent backup task. When the main backup does a full transformation it runs overnight into the morning hours, which delays a couple of shorter daily backups from running at their scheduled time (5am and 7am). The "The backup has ended without errors." message is then seen in the last log to be emailed, associated with the scheduled (but delayed) 7am backup. Perfectly logical the "backup" has indeed just ended, but I stupidly took it to mean the individual "backup task" had ended. I'll start using "** Number of errors: 0." to detect the success of an individual task and make sure to set When to mail=When a task is done.
