Single file backup fails

Post by AndrewE »

Hi,
I recently migrated to reflector from the old Cobian backup product which I have run for many years without any issues.
I have one job that was running correctly on backup but I just noticed it is not working correctly on reflector.

The job should back up a single file from a source location and should make copies in two destination locations.

According to the logs there are no errors reported and the file has been copied successfully, but the file never actually appears in either destination folder. There are no errors reported, the job is logged as having completed successfully.

I have checked all permissions and can copy the file correctly using file manager logged in as the same user on the same computer that the backup runs under. There are 15 other backup jobs on the server all of which copy multiple files in folders and all run correctly.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I am using Reflector version 1.1.3 on W10 1607

Hi
Thanks for the quick response.
I think I have found the issue, at least I have found the copied files. Previously under the old backup product when the file was copied it was copied directly to the destination folders specified. Under Reflector it seems to be also copying the folder structure so the file is being copied but to a new subfolder in the destination.
This does in fact show up in the log, The messages show the true destination in the sub folder which I should have noticed, sorry.

2022-11-08 23:35:27 Copying the file "\\nas2\andrew\Excel\SALARY.XLS" to "\\nas2\finances\Excel"...
2022-11-08 23:35:27 The file attributes have been copied from "\\nas2\andrew\Excel\SALARY.XLS" to "\\nas2\finances\Excel\SALARY.XLS".

My source is set as a single file, "\\nas2\andrew\Excel\SALARY.XLS. The destinations are set to the folders \\nas2\finances and \\nas2\belinda\finance but the file is actually being copied into a new folder called Excel which has been created in each of the destination folders.

This is not a problem as I can just change where we look for the copied file but it would be nice if it put the file where requested. Is there an option somewhere perhaps that I have not found that tells it to replicate the folder structure?

You can also disable "Always create top directory" for your task.
