Post by streik »

The timestamp mask, there must be the possibility to choose as a "PREFIX" or as a "SUFFIX" of the file name (only in monolithic compress archives).

This will help to be able to order the backups more clearly,

You can use parameters to select exactly the way you want as the destination. For example a destination of D:\%FNDATETIME DetinationFolder

You can choose to put the TIMESTAMP as "prefix" or as "suffix".
Because it gives more possibilities to order the files.
This would be in application settings.

For example: If we compress the files, with the "Separated Monolithic Compress" system it makes a compressed file for each main folder.

And currently the name of the file looks like this:
folder_name + timestamp + full+.7z

If you want to order them by name order, from a file explorer, it looks like this:

Accounting Backup 2022-12-13 12;28;40_full.7z
Accounting Backup 2022-12-14 10;35;22_differential.7z
Accounting Backup...
Accounting Backup...
Accounting Backup...
Accounting Backup...
Accounting Backup...
Accounting Backup...
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder 2022-12-13 12;28;40_full.7z
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder 2022-12-14
10;35;22_differential.7z
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder...
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder...
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder...
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder...
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder...
Valencia de Roncesvalles folder...
Warehouse Manager 2022-12-13 12;28;40_full.7z
Warehouse Manager 2022-12-14 10;35;22_differential.7z
Warehouse Manager...
Warehouse Manager...
Warehouse Manager...
Warehouse Manager...
Warehouse Manager...
Warehouse Manager...

If the administrator is given the opportunity to choose to order it by dates, it is thanks to being able to choose to put the suffix TIMESTAMP, in the name of the compressed files.
It would be like this:

Above are all those of the date 2022-12-13, which are all full:
2022-12-13 12;28;40 Accounting Backup_full .7z
2022-12-13 12;28;40 Valencia folder of Roncesvalles_full.7z
2022-12-13 12;28;40 Warehouse Manager_full.7z

And here you already choose the group of differential or incremental that you want:
2022-12-14 10;35;22 Accounting Backup_differential.7z
2022-12-14 10;35;22 Valencia de Roncesvalles folder_differential.7z
2022-12-14 10;35;22 Warehouse Manager_differential.7z

That is why it is so important to be able to choose if you want to put it as a prefix or as a suffix in the name of the compressed FILE. Because there are many people who are better organized by date order.

The same goes for "Global monolithic archives".

But if it is also put in "files compressed separately individually", the administrator can choose if he wants to put the timestamp to the left of the file name, or to the right. Let the administrator choose how it works best for him.

Of course, if you fix the fact that a "subfolder" can be created for each backup, with:
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_full
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_full
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental
yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss_incremental

So, if the administrator chooses to put in "timestamp in archives" inside the folder, as a suffix, it might work better.

But if the Administrator chooses not to create a folder for each backup, if he can choose as a prefix and as a suffix, maybe he can sort the files, and clarify ideas better, when recovering or restoring a backup.

Thank you so much.
