I think for individual compression the files are compressed directly to the destination.

I see! I think that's why I always get this error when using zip extension even in monolithic:
An error occurred while compressing the file "\\someWin11PC\somedatabase.gdb" into the archive: (32) The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process:
I also tried SharpZipLib Fastzip, if I don't copy the files to a temp folder first then zipping it, same thing.

Sir Luis Please! If you have some time, please check what can be done. Thank You...

Does the destination have some kind of antivirus? Some antivirus programs lock zip files directly when those are created.

Only Windows Security no other antivirus as I mention on post 1, I tried this on both fresh install windows 10 22H2 64 bit and Windows 11 Pro 21H2 64 bit.

I even tried to disable windows security real-time protection and firewall.

So far this is the one I've tried that works, either the windows security real-time protection and firewall turns ON or OFF.

Nothing has changed and will not change until this problem can be reproduced somehow.

Noted!

Hello! Sir Luis, This is what i observed:

I even tried disabling Windows Security and adding Administrator Permissions on both windows PC
and this is what I observed:
Windows -> Windows:
Zip method
\\someWinPC\somedatabase.gdb --> D:\cobiantest\my.zip ERROR (32) The process cannot access...
\\someWinPC\someapplication.exe --> D:\cobiantest\my.zip BACKUP ZIP OK

7zip method
\\someWinPC\somedatabase.gdb --> D:\cobiantest\my.7z BACKUP 7z OK
\\someWinPC\someapplication.exe --> D:\cobiantest\my.7z BACKUP 7z OK

Tried Linux also as a source.

Linux -> Windows:
Zip method
\\someLinuxPC\somedatabase.gdb --> D:\cobiantest\my.zip BACKUP ZIP OK
\\someLinuxPC\someapplication.exe --> D:\cobiantest\my.zip BACKUP ZIP OK

7zip method
\\someLinuxPC\somedatabase.gdb --> D:\cobiantest\my.7z BACKUP 7z OK
\\someLinuxPC\someapplication.exe --> D:\cobiantest\my.7z BACKUP 7z OK
I don't know why windows is preventing Cobian Reflector in compressing files with (Firebird/Interbase .gdb extension) in zip method.

SIr Luis any suggestion what Windows Security needs to be turn off?

Hello Sir Luis,

I got this error in Event Viewer when running the task:
Cobian Reflector VSC Requester
An error occurred while deleting the snapshot 1e377134-5eda-41dd-8cff-23312c5cec59: Deletion of snapshot failed. See inner exception for details. .
May I ask on what directory this snapshot is created if you don't mind?

This is a VSS snapshot that cannot be accessed in Explorer.

Dear all,
after a Windows 10 22H2 reinstallation, I bumped into the same problem with Cobian Reflector v1.1.3. Replacing it with the latest Cobian Reflector v2.5.0 did not help.
After some research in the Internet, two actions brought solution for me:
The first is described here: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/acronis ... kattempt=1
1. Go to Start -> Run -> regedit.exe and press ENTER;
2. Navigate to this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\VSS\Providers\
3. Check, if you can find at the left part entries below Providers. There should be only one entry.
Under every condition: Click on every entry and check in the right part, if you can find this entry: "Microsoft Software Shadow Copy provider 1.0". Do not delete this entry!
For the other entries: Check if you can find the Acronis VSS Provider entry and delete it.

The second is described here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troub ... ice-events , under the Resolution part.

After doing the above actions, the backup task with ZIP method and Global Monolithic archives worked without errors.
