Anyone tried using Mountain Duck with Cobian to backup Onedrive?

Post by Dagremote »

I see that Mountain Duck will mount the files in Onedrive as a drive letter on a system. Cobian also sees the drive letter. The app can also be setup so as to store it's pointers and files on any drive you want. This is a possible solution for Onedrive backups because Onedrive typically doesn't sync all files locally, rather, it store pointers. My smaller SSD drives in laptops are much smaller than my Onedrive files.

Wondering if anyone else has tried this or other ideas for backing up onedrive data when the system you're logged into Onedrive on has a smaller drive.

Thanks.

Hi,

I use Mountain Duck to replicate Google Cloud Storage on my PC as drive G.

I'm trying to set up Reflector so it backs-up folders on C to G. The "normal" address of the destination folder would be G:\cloudbackup1234 but in Files->Destination Reflector calls it "\\DESKTOP\Google Cloud\cloudbackup1234\".

Running the task produces this error message: "The destination directory "\\DESKTOP\Google Cloud\cloudbackup1234\TodaysBackup" couldn't be created."

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

\\DESKTOP\Google Cloud\cloudbackup1234\ is the UNC path. Uncheck Options-Functionality-Convert all paths to UNC if you don't like that behaviour

Thank you very much Luis for replying so quickly, but I can't get it to work.

I've tried everything I can think of, but the operation always fails trying to find the destination:

ERR 2024-05-21 13:51:41 The destination directory "G:\cloudbackup1234\Accounts" couldn't be created: (3) El sistema no puede encontrar la ruta especificada: [G:\cloudbackup1234]

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

It's interesting to hear about using Mountain Duck to mount Onedrive files as a drive letter on a system, and how Cobian can see the drive letter. Storing pointers and files on any drive is a useful feature escape road
