Hi,
I'm having difficulty working with exclusion masks for folders. For example, using the following exclusion mask: .*\\\build\\.* the sub-folder: build still gets backed up wherever it appears in the source file selection.
The only exclusion that works for me is to specify the full path of the various instances of the folder. I have tried all kinds of exclusion masks but so far I haven't found the solution.
What am I doing wrong?
Cobian Reflector 2.5.00 is installed on windows 10, my user doesn't have admin privileges.
Thank you for a good solid backup tool, it's a pleasure to use when I get the hang of the exclusion mask.
Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
Re: Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
The folder is created but it is empty.

Re: Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
I could live with empty folder inclusion but this is not the case. I'm excluding these folder(s) because of their content size. These folders actually contain several mbs with the exclusion mask applied.
Re: Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
But are you applying it as a REGULAR EXPRESSION?

Re: Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
I'm a novice when it comes to regular expressions.
I only have one entry in the exclusions list, which I thought was a regex:
.*\\\build\\.*
In addition I have: 'Ignore empty directories' checked.
Backups are directed to a local drive (not ftp).

Re: Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
Yes, I mean this shouldn't work as a meask, but it will doi as a regular expression as far as I remember.

Re: Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
O, the penny just dropped!
Having tried various 'masks' that didn't work, I then edited an existing mask but entered it as a regex - which as you forecast didn't work either. Instead of LOOKING at the Add list and SEEING 'Regular expression' .
At this point I posted the question.
I had got hijacked by the idea that to enter a regex one simply applied it as a mask.
So sorry Mr Cobian!
I love how clean the Reflector is. It must have come into being from a good place, thank you.

Re: Unable to use exclude folder using folder mask
No problems. It happens to the best of us.
