Icon flashing red

For the past few days, the task bar icon has been flashing red. Opening the program ends it, but it resumes the next day.

I'm a stone technoramus, so keep that in mind when replying.

Don't suss what you're saying, sadly, but I ran my weekly backup the other day, and all seemed to go well, so is this something of no concern? Can I simply open the program, which ends the flashing, and go on my merry way, or am I ignoring this to my peril?

If the icon is just flashing, it indicates that there are errors. If it's jusrt red without the flashing, then the engine is not found.
