Incremental backup to network place slow even if no files changed

Post by petardo »

Hi,
I'm backing up 700 K of files to a network place.
Incremental backup based on archive attribute takes 100 minutes in spite of all archive attribute cleared, no files to backup.
I suppose that examining the existence of the files on the network place takes so long.
Any workaround?
May be an option to enable not to examine the existence?

Yes, it's the checking of the existence of a copy which takes time. It is done just in case the file in the destination has been deleted or some other oddity has happened.

In the old Cobian Backup there was such an option but not here... Perhaps will be added.

Thanks.
Couldn't it be an option that cobian downloads the directory tree of the destination folder – this would be faster then checking individually?

There is a temporary solution.
I have created a dummy task with a pre-backup event:
ROBOCOPY src dest /e /M /COPY:DAT /DCOPY:T
The drawback is, however, that the robocopy output is not showing up in the cobian log file.

That's OK... There is a LOT of things to change so I really don't want to touch this part right now. :-D
