Backup deletion behavior suggestion

Post by Folkien »

Hi,

First of all thx a lot for this great software !
I'm writting today with a suggestion that, I think, would not need a lot of work and would not require a GUI modification, only a modification in a behavior of the program.

Actualy, in incremental backup, when the number of days until the next full backup is reached, a new full backup is created. Then, the old full backup is deleted and all the incremental ones upto the freshly made full backup also.

I think it would be great and very usefull to delete only 1 incremental or full backup, the oldest per backup session once the cap of incremental backup reached ! this way we keep the space usage under control but keep a kind of backup "versioning" if I can call it this way.

If a file is modified between several backup you can comeback to an older version even if the full backup has been made since.

What do you think ?

Could be possible, but I think it's pretty complicated even the way it is now, but sure.
