So simple and useful. I've been using it for many years. Make it open source.

Hi Luis

I offer to maintain reflector as a open source project for the next 10 years.
I also would host your website and the forum as it is with download for cobian backup.

If you are interested, please lets talk by email/chat.
These are some topics we would have to resolve: which open source license, keep the name 'cobian' or change it, register a trademark...

About myself: I will be retired in one year and have time to contribute/lead open source projects. During 2024, I initiated a new open source project: https://www.octoprobe.org.
Living in Switzerland and fluently speeking spanish. I have ~6 years experience in C# but I am currently more into python/micropython.

Te deseo un buen año nuevo. Que te trae muchos momentos alegres.

Saludos, Hans

Cobian backup 11 is still perfect, any newer wrappers to send backups somewhere are quite useless
and it doesn't have Feb22 political BS in description

I can only echo all of the comments of support for you Luis. I have found this backup reliable and effective and would be very unhappy to see it disappear. I do not have the knowledge to contribute to an open source support, but personally would be happy for this to be the outcome.

Discussing further, it is understandable that people have limited time to help and it's often difficult to do so without some form of income. Is there a method to provide the open source code, while allowing individuals to charge say a fixed amount to assist? I'm not involved in any way so understand that this may not be possible. Personally, I would be happy to pay for the app on a one time basis, but am completely opposed to a subscription basis, simply because of the huge numbers of this form of payment that now exist and keeping track of all is becoming a costly business.

Nothing but praise for you and this software and sincerely wish you all the best, regardless of what comes next.

I think I first used Cobian Gravity 6+ years ago and have been using them every month since.

It's nice to see so many users leaving words of praise for you here. You've helped thousands of people with your software over the years! I figured I'd come back one more time and leave a thank-you too.

Hi there,

I've just signed up to say Thank You for your work on this program! I only found it a few years ago but for me it's an essential part of my back up process. I have tried many different programs before settling on Cobian as it is the easiest for me to use and done exactly what I need it to do! I'm not a power user by any means but it "just works" unlike all the others I tried.

I would be more than happy to pay a one off license fee to use the software (sorry but I wouldn't pay a monthly/annual sub fee). While a life time license would be cool I wouldn't be against having to buy a license for a new major version every few years or whatever.

That said, if your heart isn't in it anymore and you're tired of it then throwing money at it won't help much. Money is nice but you should also be excited and passionate about what you do. I respect whatever your choice may be.

If it is abandoned and no one is willing to take over then I will use the latest/last version for as long as it is functional and safe.

Thanks again!
