Opening Cobian Reflector User Interface crashing

Post by acerot »

Immediately after the installation a dialog appears about app crashing. Starting the "Cobian Reflector User Interface" app manually brings the same outcome (even as "Run As Admin"). Checking Windows event log gives 2 errors - one for .NET runtime followed by one for Application error, both related to Cobian.Reflector.UserInterface.exe. Checking Services both "Cobian Reflector Engine" (Admin user account) and "Cobian Reflector Volume Shadow Copy requester" (Local system account) are running.
What shall I put here for info (text, screenshots) to further investigate? Thx.

Interesting... What is the text of the events at the Event Viewer/Application.

Does your account belong to a domain or is it a local account?

What OS are your running?

What's the content of the dialog?

Hi, I don't know if it's the same issue of @acerot, since I see no dialog appearing, but I can't open Cobian Reflector as well.
When I launch the app manually I see the Cobian Reflector icon in the taskbar popping up pinkish and then vanishing.

Currently, I'm running Windows 10 Pro 21H1 build 19043.1266 with a local account, and here's the Event Viewer error report (let me know if you need translation since it's in Italian) Image

If you're interested I could provide also the crash reports that Windows generated.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you solve this and have a nice day!

Picture not available... Please provide the crash report as well. Also, can you check the permissions of some vital foders by running Cobian.Reflector.PermissionsTool.exe?

Thanks for the fast reply.

I don't know why the picture is not available but you can access it via this link: https://imgur.com/a/eu79wQe

I've run the Cobian.Reflector.PermissionsTool.exe but nothing changed, same behavior as before.

Just a side note, I've reinstalled Cobian Gravity since I had some backup to run but I don't think this is the problem, but I could uninstall it if it helps

I have .NET Framework 4.8.04084 installed and seems to be installed correctly.

Let me know if there are some ways to check it.

I just remembered that I was able to use it before this morning when I restarted my pc and Windows applied some updates including KB5005539.

* Is this a terminal server? If you check the task manager, do you see any other instances of the interface running under some other user?

Try deleting the directory

C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\CobianSoft\Cobian Reflector

and try starting the user interface again.
