Stability issues

Post by walkicobianuser »

Hello cobian, walki here. I am currently experiencing stability issues with cobian reflector, it does this thing where it will not respond from 1 to a full minute, then it will come back. Is this an issue with my BIG archives?
2 tasks just created:
Programming stuff - compressed individually, 314 megabytes (compressed)
videos backup - compressed individually, 6 gigs (compressed)
I do see some CPU-usage spikes, it also does that when I'm editing the task(s) primarily
It also sometimes lag severely for a second then it just comes back as normal. Is anyone else having the same issue?

This could happen when you have thousands of small files. Just uncheck Options- Visuals- Show sizes in task list

Yep, it does the lag thing while doing the tasks but only on the task list, everything else acts like it isn't lagging
Also, it's become very slow to even make a new task,
And yes I do have thousands of small files.

Try checking Engine-Options- Low priority thread.

Meanwhile, here's some feedback.
Pretty good software, backups up pretty good with even big folders like my videos folder.
A lot of small issues which all fit into 1 category, STABILITY.
Big files it sometimes doesn't cleanly deal with like some hiccups here and there (to the very slow task-creation)
But overall, pretty good software for a developer like you.

That is pretty strange... Never had this issue even when testing with 2000 small files, but I have an SSD disk so perhaps I need to check with a normal mechanical one. I will make some changes to the UI so it won't use so many resources while calculating the sizes.

I too have a SSD.. but not a NVMe one, it's a SATA 3 Cruical MX500 SSD.
Though I do have a HDD but Cobian Reflector isn't on there, it's most likely my USB drive not catching up with it since it's kind of slow

Hi.

I am new one on this forum. :)

I really like your work (I am using Cobian Backup and now Reflector until the first version).

But now I have issue with stability. The first problem it was with crashing... I changed settings as you said. I am working with a thousands of files... Now it does not crash anymore, but it works really slow and lags sometimes (no response)... Progress bar is going nowhere... And for example, if I click on pause, the command will come up after 10 minutes or so...

Is there maybe any additional settings to improve speed and stability?

Thank you for your answer.
