OAuth2 support yet?

Hi All,

I have not had a chance to check out the new reflector.

One of the issues on the old backup was that it did not support OAuth2. Most of my customers are using gmail/g-suite. They constantly get letters from gmail asking them to disable "less secure apps". And no matter how much I tell them not to, there goes their backup reports. (Not that they ever check them.)

Is OAuth2 support in our future?

Many thanks,
-T

I hand plans to add support for Cloud storage, which in most cases support OAuth2. But no, not implemented. Yet.

Hi Luis,

My concern was the eMail reports at the end of backups. gmail/g-suite keep pressuring users to disable "less secure apps" and the users eventually give in and disable it. This kill their eMail reports. And since I am stuck with checking (Cc:) their reports because they refuse to, it is a complete pain in my butt. I never know when and who is doing their backups and who is not.

gMail/g-suite sent out notifications a few months ago that they were going to force the issue, but the complaining stopped them and their deadline expired. I do not believe this will last for long though. Google really, really wants everything done their way or the highway.

It looks like Google is going to force OAuth2 down all our throat comes May 30th. They have threatened before.

Any update on supporting OAuth2?

No, but google lets you create an authentication token for 3rd party applications.

Look like you will need to do something like Thunderbird does. Since Thunderbird is Open Source, you can peek at its code
