RFE: explain "safe Mirror Directory"

Post by Todd »

Request for Enhancement:

0.9.38

When exiting "Settings", a pop up states "Warning: the safe mirror directory doesn't seems to exist or is not accessible"

Would you please consider:

1) in the help document, a section explaining what a "safe mirror directory" is and how to use it.

2) a button hthe the pop up to activate that help section.

Many thanks,
-T

From the help file (Options)

Use a safe mirror directory: A mirroring operation is not a backup and it's quite a bad idea to implement in a backup program. That said, people want mirrors, so Cobian Reflector implements them. That means that, if a file is deleted in the source , the same file must be deleted from the destination. In order to somehow mitigate this very dangerous option, when a file is deleted from the destination, it will be temporary stored in the "Save mirror directory" indicated here.

Hi Luis,

Excellent explanation.

Since this is an optional feature, the user should not be warned about it every time he exits settings.

Safe Mirror is the single most important reason that I use Cobian. Thank you for continuing it! It has saved my butt on many occasions.
