Installer crash target directory paste path double quotes

Post by Gibly92 »

Using version 0.9.42 on Windows 8.1, the installer crashed upon pasting into "Choose the installation directory" a path within double quotes. Windows generates this kind of path when using Shift+right-click/context menu on a file or folder. Many apps can properly handle paths in this format, but only a few high-quality installers do so.

For second attempted install, I used the [...] button to select a folder instead of pasting, so no crash. However many installers allow creating a new folder via the common dialogs, but I'm not sure this installer allowed that. I created a new folder behind the installer's back, then selected that folder in the dialog; common dialogs return the path without quotes, even when paths contain spaces. Installation then completed normally.
