Backup creating empty folders

I assume that this is intended but is there some way to control it or stop it? I feel like having to hunt through empty folders if I need to restore is going to be quite a chore

Advanced, ignore empty directories.

Ah, sorry, I realise I wasn't very clear in my original post. I have incremental backups on, and the folders are created for every incremental backup, regardless of whether there are any changes to the folders since the last backup, creating many empty folders for each increment. I would then need to work backwards through each increment to figure out where changes, if any, took place.

Advanced, ignore empty directories will do it.

I've had that switched on since the beginning, and it still creates empty directories for incremental backups where there have been no change. Is is because I'M backing up a list of folders rather than a whole drive?

This seems to have dropped off the radar. I have Advanced, ignore empty directories ticked in the backup profile and it continues to make empty folders. I have found 1229 empty directories for one full and 3 incremental backups,

There are 2 possibilities I can think of:

1. This is an ftp/sftp backup, in which case this setting won't work
2- You are not creating separated backups in which case, it's too late now

It's a local backup (external drive) and I am creating separated backups.

Odd. I'll just keep running Remove Empty Folders every now and again then.

If you activate the verbose log and check the log file (not the log tab), do you see any info like "checking for empty folders"?

And there is an Never ignore empty folders for full backups option which perhaps is checked.
