Is it possible to have the compression process use multithreading and thus loadshare across CPUs? Very slow on a single core.

I am using the Zip format, not rar or 7z, so no, not possible.

Maybe a option in the task settings for not just ZIPs but also RAR and 7z?
Unless your library / whatever you use to compress the files doesn't support them, I think it's best to add that as soon as possible.

Rar is not free for compression. 7zip is but the API is quite complicated (I did the conversion for Gravity) and it took some months. :(

Maybe try adding options for which compression filetype to use?

Will take months to fix a good 7zip port. Don't really know if it's worth.
