Couldn't copy the file - the request is not supported

Post by sludlow »

We have an incremental backup task that runs daily - it appears to be backing up new files, but is failing on modified files with this error:

Couldn't copy the file path\filename - the request is not supported

I've tried with volume shadow copy on and off

App is running on Windows Server 2012 Standard.

Any help/assistance with this error would be greatly appreciated.

What is the destination? A NAT drive?

we have a separate BSD server with a mounted drive for backups - accessed over SMB from the Server 2016 machine which runs Cobian as a service. If it was an issue with destination, wouldn't it be failing for BOTH new files and modified files? As far as I can tell, it's only failing on modified files.

So, destination looks like:
\\10.x.x.x\backups\backupfolder

Was wondering if I need to upgrade to reflector? This server was upgraded from 2012 R2 to 2016 before Christmas - it may have broke then and I didn't notice as my periodic method for checking if the backup is working is to look for newly created files.

There is no difference in copting or replacing. The is is not allowing the replacement for some weird reason.

Read only partition perhaps? Just guessing.
