Scheduled Tasks not running

Post by Darcy »

Hi there,

I have it installed as a service, and it doesn't seem to be running the tasks as they are scheduled.

Also, I feel like I must have something else set incorrectly. I want 1 full backup, incremental, with a new full backup being created on the 7th day. Is it supposed to delete the previous backup and start all over again?

It's a ~4TB backup for a full backup.

Please let me know what information I need to pull for you from the program to aid in troubleshooting.

Thank you in advance.

Is the computer "alive" (not in sleep mode) when the schedule is to be triggered?

To help you troubleshoot issues with your backup service not running scheduled tasks, we need to examine it and provide some details. Below are the steps to check and the information you need to provide to find the slice master cause and how to fix it
Check running service:
Check if the backup service is running. You can check the status of the service in Windows Services or with the systemctl status [service-name] command if you are using a Linux operating system.
If the service is not running, try restarting the service and check again.
Check the backup schedule:
Review the backup schedule in the program you are using. Make sure the schedule is set up according to your wishes. Can you provide a screenshot of this schedule so we can check it for you.

Hi there,

The server runs 24/7 365 days a week. It's our main server for file shares. The file shares are what we're backing up to a Synology NAS. I fell the issue might be the shear volume of files and changes that are made to them daily. It's not realistic to do daily backups I'm beginning to think due to the sizes of the backups being created. The system service is running. It's just not deleting the old full backups. I'm honestly trying to move most of the files off to Sharepoint and decrease the amount of files that need to be backed up to the NAS.

Basically I want - 1 full backup - incrementals for 7 days - delete full backup - create new full backup - erase incrementals as new incrementals get made. Something like that. Not sure how to create that or if it's possible, or if all the old incrementals can just get erased after the new full backup is successfully made since all of those changes should be caught in the new full backup.
