How to Set Up Incremental Backups with Specific File Exclusions in Cobian Reflector?

Post by whizbang »

I’ve been using Cobian Reflector for a while now, and it’s been great for my backup needs. However, I’m trying to set up an incremental backup task where I exclude specific file types (e.g., .tmp and .log files) from being backed up. I’ve looked through the settings but couldn’t find a clear way to do this.

Could someone guide me on how to configure this? Specifically:
  • How do I set up an incremental backup task?
  • Is there a way to exclude certain file types or folders from the backup?
  • If exclusions are possible, do they apply to all backup types (full, differential, incremental)?
Any help or step-by-step instructions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Yes, exclusions are possible:

Task-properties-Filters-Exclusions. Yu can use masks (*.txt), files, directories or Regular expressions,

You can create a new task with "Incremental" as the backup type in the General tab and specify your source and destination in the Files tab, then schedule it as needed. Exclude specific file types like `.tmp` and `.log` by adding them as masks in the Filter tab, where exclusions will apply to all backup types for that task.
