Incremental backup (empty folders)

Post by rpigeon »

Hello,
I've been using Cobian Reflector for a few months now, just a simple task for a backup of some folders on my system. Working with no problem. I'm running Cobian Reflector version 2.07-Beta.
A few weeks ago I had to reinstall all my system from scratch (Windows 11). I reinstalled Cobian Reflector and I rebuilt my task as it was (that is what I think!).
My task is a full backup every friday and an incremental back up every day. What I do not understand is that every day doing the incremental backup folders are created and they are empty (no activity for that day involving that folder). If I remember, and it is here that my memory might be at fault, before reinstalling Cobian Reflector when no activity was found for a folder, an empty folder was not created.
So what I have now is: full backup, six incremental and then another full backup. The six incremental backup are created even if every folders to be backkuped are empty, they are deleted after a full backup (I keep the last 4 full backups).
Is that the expected behavior (and I have a personnel memory problem ;) ) or is there something I did before and that I forgot?
Thanks for any help,
Robert

Just select the option to Ignore empty folders.

Hello and thanks for the rapid reply!
The "Ignore empty folders" is checked... but it still create an empty folder in my back up! So, if nothing was changed in my original folder an empty folder is created in my backup drive.

Is this a remote ftp/sftp destination? In that case the Ignore empty directories won't work.

No, the backup is done to an external hard drive.

PASTAS e ARQUIVOS.
Alguém poderia ajudar? ? ?

Uso Backup Completo copiando tudo, pastas vazias e tudo! Ele não copia! Faço esse mesmo processo no Windows 10 com as mesmas configurações que estou fazendo aqui no Windows 11 e ele não faz a copia dos arquivos de dentro dos diretórios! !

I get the same thing.
All my incrementals have the directory structure, but all folders are empty, because nothing has changed.
I mean, it's a little weird honestly, but ok I guess.
