Hi,
I just switched from Cobian Gravity to Cobian Reflector 2.5.0.
Everything is ok except that in Global monolithic archive (7zip) is the first directory "HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy"
and after that the directories with my files.
Example - when unpacking:
Test 2023-11-20 13;24;39 (Full).7z\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy18\xy\
I need to use the Volume Shadow Copies option.
Is it a bug?
Can it be turned off?
In Cobian Gravity 11 it does not appear in the archive file
Every help is welcome
Zeljko
Exclude the directory HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy from 7zip
Re: Exclude the directory HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy from 7zip
This appears if you are using Absolute paths I think.

Re: Exclude the directory HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy from 7zip
Hi Cobian
No, I'm not using an absolute path.
In the 7Zip file, the first directory is the HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy and below it the source directory
7zip file
>HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1
>>Source1
>HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy2
>>Source2
>HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy3
>>Source3
No, I'm not using an absolute path.

Re: Exclude the directory HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy from 7zip
Are you backing up the root directories of some disk? Like c:\ and D:\ ? I that case C and D will be substituted by those values.

Re: Exclude the directory HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy from 7zip
Hi,
I discovered in which case this happens.
Only when using Global monolithic archive and two or more sources.
Example
Task name Source Compresion type Result The content of zip
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Test-directory2 E:\xy Global monolithic arhive Test-directory2 2023-11-21 11;10;07 (Full).7z HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1\Files
D:\baza HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy2\Files

Re: Exclude the directory HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy from 7zip
If you are having two sources it will try to get the shortest common path. If there are no common parts then you will get the full paths yes.
But if you have common parts like :
D:\test\dir1
and
D:\test\dir2
then you will get
dir1
and
dir2
But if you have common parts like :
D:\test\dir1
and
D:\test\dir2
then you will get
dir1
and
dir2

Re: Exclude the directory HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy from 7zip
Hi,
This happens when the source directories are on different partitions.
HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy is created for each partition
If they are on the same partition, everything is ok.
Thanks
Zeljko

I just switched to Cobian Reflector too and have the same shadow copy folder in my backups. Wondering if it's a bug or can be disabled. Didn't see this in Cobian Gravity.zcizic wrote: ↑20 Nov 2023, 14:51 Hi,
