Full backup named "Differantial" and no cleanup

Post by renedepe » Wed Mar 27, 2019 2:12 pm

This topic is about an ongoing question which was started on the "old" forum:
https://qa.cobiansoft.com/index.php?qa= ... no-cleanup

In short, there were 2 questions:
1 - All backups are namen "differential", never "full" (although there is a full backup made, according to the filesize).
2 - Backups are never cleaned up according to settings, but are kept indefinitely.

Last reaction from Cobian was to clear the complete history and see if the first next backup would be a "full" one (which it should be). I tried that, but unfortunatly, the first backup is still called "differential" in the history tab, but called "full" in the folder that CobianBackup has created in the FTP target.

History after cleaning attempt:

Any more suggestions would be much appreciated!!

I did some testing, trying to find out what is exactly causing the issue:
  • Target=FTP, NoCompression, Result=Not OK (first backup is called "differential" in history tab)
  • Target=FTP, 7zCompression, Result=OK (first backup is called "full" in history tab)
  • Target=LocalFilesystem, NoCompression, Result=OK (first backup is called "full" in history tab)
  • Target=LocalFilesystem, 7zCompression, Result=OK (first backup is called "full" in history tab)

So, it seems, the bug is specifically when an FTP target is used WITHOUT compression. But... I don't want to make a backup locally (since this is useless) and I can't use compression because the compressed file is created locally first and I don't have 23GB of diskspace available for that on the server(s).

Hopefully this extra info is usefull to make a fix for this.

OK, seems to be a bug with the name of the task in the list (but not in the file system).

Yes, but since the list is used to determine which backups should be cleaned up, it is a nasty one unfortunatly... :-(. Do you have any idea if this can be fixed?

I don't own the code of version 11 anymore so I cannot patch this.

I will add a reminder in case I decide to make a whole new version i the future.

Ok, thanks for your response though!

Then I have to look for another backup solution. Anyone on this forum with any suggestions?
