miscalculating what to archive / attributes and different filesystems

Post by velur » Sun Jul 14, 2019 2:23 pm

Hello there been using v11 for a while now, my 2 drives are: source - NTFS , backup - exFAT

in first example I use incremental backup with mirroring
after backing up, it does not remember what was backed up, and still goes on the same route

is the timing related to backup since it should be checking attributes, also what would make 1 second difference on ALL the backup files. or is it filesystem difference?

another backup directory without mirror task
goes through backing the same files as the last backup

I might've misused backup tool in last two years only realising now. I noticed from start on some unicode filename characters I had and did not bother investigating thought that was the issue.

But you are using DIFFERENTIAL backups, not incremental. Differential backups are redundant by definition.

thanks! I should've read tooltips more carefully!

while differential mode is selected, shouldn't simulation of full backup trigger similar conditions or does it go to real full backup to compare?
thanks

No, it just simulates a full backup (adds a full backup to the history list). No actual files are copied at all.
