Emergency destination option

Post by pugwindows »

Hi Luis Cobian,

Can we have "Emergency destination option " as we can see in other software like SQL backup master where we create additional FTP destination and tick mark it as the Emergency destination and if all primary destination fails it uploads to the Emergency destination.

Can we have this in Cobian new reflector?

You might be able to do this by making 3 almost identical tasks, the first one automatic and the rest manual and running the manual one from a post backup event that runs the the next task only on failure which would in effect cause a cascading choice of destinations till one worked.

Cobian Backup does not natively support an "Emergency destination option" like you described in SQL Backup Master. However, you can implement a similar workaround:

Create Multiple Destinations: Set up your primary and emergency destinations in the backup job settings.

Use Scripts: If Cobian Backup allows for pre/post-backup scripts, you could write a script that checks the success of the primary backup. If it fails, the script can initiate a backup to the emergency destination.

Manual Monitoring: Regularly monitor the backup logs. If the primary destination fails, manually trigger a backup to the emergency destination.

While it requires a bit more setup than a built-in feature, these methods can help achieve similar functionality.
